The life you retire into is about a whole lot more than money. Your values drive your new lifestyle: Will it be adventure? More time with family? A second career?
You get to decide.
And once you do, we will help you get there.
The challenge: As you journey toward retirement, you will naturally wonder if you are going to have enough to live on once you stop working or start working less.
The solution: Here at Montoya Wealth, our retirement counselor Erica Ryberg takes the time to understand your vision of retirement. Then she takes that vision, and using our financial planning software Right Capital, translates it into a flexible plan to get you there. This includes a social security income plan to maximize your benefit.
At the same time, our portfolio manager Brandon Montoya can work with you to create an investment plan that fits your risk tolerance as well as your goals. Both Brandon and Erica take special care to ensure you have the right mix of tax-advantaged and tax-free accounts to ensure you can strategically draw down in retirement.
The result: You receive a concrete answer to the question: “Will I be able to retire?” and have the opportunity to worry less and enjoy life well.
Our retirement planning process
In the course of accomplishing retirement planning on your behalf, we take the following steps:
We visualize the lifestyle that you want in retirement. Erica takes you through a process to determine what, exactly, constitutes an enjoyable retirement for you.
We get to know your financial picture. We gather all the information pertinent to your retirement situation: Social Security Income projections, statements for investment accounts and annuities, information about the properties you own and the mortgages you carry. If you are an investment client, Brandon runs a risk assessment to determine how to invest your money.
We design a retirement budget that works for you and write a plan to get there. There are two variables that impact the kind of retirement you are going to have: How long you work before you retire and how much you live on once you retire. Using our retirement planning software, we can create one or more scenarios to determine the “sweet spot” where you achieve the quality of life you desire once you retire. Once we know roughly what income is available to you, we can design a budget to carry you through retirement.
We meet to review the plan and decide how to implement it. Armed with the outputs of our software, Erica writes a retirement plan. Often she has modeled 2 to 3 scenarios for you to select from: One may have you retiring later with more income, while the other allows you to stop or slow work earlier but with less retirement income. Then you decide what is right for you.
We continue to track, monitor, and adjust the plan. Depending on the length of our engagement, we will continue to monitor your plan, checking in to see if anything has changed in your life. If it has, we make adjustments to the plan.
