Our Financial Planning
Process

WE GET TOGETHER AND DECIDE WHAT TO WORK ON

  1. Erica sits down with our planning clients to decide how we will work together, how much it will cost and what each of us will need to do to make an effective plan happen. She will also discuss your planning needs: which areas of planning you require help with, and in what order we need to pursue them. Planning areas include asset management, tax, retirement, insurance, estate, cash flow, and debt management.

  2. WE GET ALL OF YOUR INFORMATION TOGETHER

Erica interviews you and gathers financial information in order to decide on goals, priorities, and timelines. This includes a full financial history interview as well as gathering all necessary financial documents such as mortgage, annuity and investment statements, as well as Social Security income projections.

  3. ERICA CRUNCHES THE NUMBERS AND WRITES THE PLAN

This part of the planning process takes a little bit of time and some help from our financial planning and risk analysis software (links). Often the first step of our analysis is to put together a cash flow and net worth statement and then work from there to create financial models.

  4. WE GET BACK TOGETHER AND DISCUSS HOW TO TURN THE PLAN INTO REALITY

We believe the most essential part of the planning process is determining action items that you will be able and willing to implement. That means when we sit down to discuss our recommendations, we check with you to make sure you agree with our advice and are on board with doing the work to make them happen. If not, we look for other ways to implement financial changes. Once we are agreed, Erica tracks the action items and checks in at least quarterly to ensure that you are successfully implementing them.

  5. WE TRACK ACTION ITEMS AND LIFE CHANGES

For most of our planning clients, Erica reviews your financial plan when you come in for your quarterly investment meeting. If you are not an investment client, or if you don’t meet with us quarterly, we will make other arrangements to ensure the plan is reviewed on an ongoing basis until the engagement is complete.
